It Never Fails

I’m all cozied up on the couch, under a blanket with my laptop in my lap and one of the cats curled up on my legs. Mr. Martini gets up to go to the kitchen, then stops by his computer to check his e-mail. And then, of course, I realize that he’s left the remote just out of my reach. Since I’m comfortable and cozy and don’t want to move, I’m stuck watching football.

Figures.

Simple answer: “Hey! If you need to leave the room, turn control over to the remaining occupant.”

As odd as it may sound, my wife and I have actually made this work! She usually has the clicker, but after only a few hundred reminders, she now turns it over to me when she needs to pee (or leave the room for any other reason).
