This is totally girly and silly, but I’ve started wearing jewelry again after not really wearing any for a long time. More specifically, I’ve been wearing earrings. I have super-sensitive skin, so cheap jewelry makes me miserable. Rather than buying high-quality jewelry (like sterling silver or titanium jewelry) I just stopped wearing it all together. But lately I’ve found a few pairs of high-quality, sterling silver earrings I’m able to wear without misery. I’m super excited, especially since I have a lot of shopping to do to make up for the years of not buying any jewelry at all!

I’d like to take this opportunity to say how thankful I am that Mr. Martini and I have managed to live for three years as a single car couple. We’ve managed to make do with just one car, and while sometimes car-pooling can be tricky, we make it work. That being said, I’m always keeping my eye out for the next great deal on a second car, whether it’s with an Employee Pricing event or some other year-end sale. Granted, it’s not in our budget just yet, but a girl can dream about a new car, right?

She already has the standard mom gifts of mother’s rings and necklaces. I tend to send along yummy local foods or coffees, but she’s been trying to watch her diet. I’m thinking candles might be nice, but dad doesn’t like smelly things. Hmmm. this is going to take some more thought. Time is running out, though! Hopefully I’ll think of something good soon.

It’s getting close to Christmas! It’s time to find some good deals online. I’ve been looking at a few sites, but I think one that will come in handy this season are any sites that do the work for me. There’s a new app at Drop Down Deals that tells you about couponsavailable on sites when you visit them. It’s automatic, so you don’t have to go searching for coupon codes. Pretty cool! Now I just need to figure out what to buy everyone this year.

The weekend is over, and I was finishing my weekend chores. I was folding my laundry, and realized that everything I own is pretty drab – lots of black and grey and navy blue. I don’t really have a lifestyle that requires me to buy la femme prom dresses online for various events. But maybe a few more colors, a few more fun pieces of jewelry, anything to jazz up my day to day wardrobe would be a good idea.

It figures that I just painted my nails dove grey. I’m telling you, I need a color intervention!

I’ve been buying new makeup lately. It’s been ages since I’ve worn it, but now I have a bin in my bathroom full of different products. My absolute favorite mascara of all time has been discontinued, and while I know there must be an eyelash growth serum that works out there, I’m still stuck using mascara. I must have bought 5 different ones in the past few weeks, looking for that perfect formula. I still haven’t found it. I’m limiting my search to the drug store (no fancy $30 mascaras for me!) so if you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them! Do you have a favorite mascara? Waterproof or regular? Let me know!

Ever since I did some knitting with wire and beads a few months ago, I’ve become completely hooked. I love it. I just wish I had more time to find beads and wire that would work well for it. We don’t have a lot of bead stores in town, and those we do have are too out of the way and are not convenient to get to.

This is another reason I love the internet. There are amazing online ships that sell beads and wire and findings and everything else you need for your projects. It’s so much more convenient and I typically find items I didn’t even know existed. Online shopping for the win!

One of the best things I’ve ever invested in since I started taking more photos is an abundance of SD cards. I carry at least two in my camera bag, in addition to the one that is in the camera. It’s so nice to be able to switch them out when they start to get full, without having to delete shots while on a shoot.

I also carry a reader with me at all times. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve needed to download a large file that won’t go over email. I just grab one of my sd memory cards, pop in the USB reader, and I’m ready to transfer those files from one computer to another. So convenient! I love these things.

I’m a crafty person. That is, I like making hand crafts – knitting, crocheting, sewing, embroidery. And sometimes, I like to splurge and get the best quality I can afford. It’s so much more pleasant to work with high quality items than it is the cheap ones.

I think some people would balk at the price tag of $80 for a set of really nice knitting needles, but for me, it’s part of the hobby. Every hobby has extras that make it more enjoyable. You don’t just buy an ATV, you buy ATV Accessories to go along with it. Same goes for golf, and tennis, and stamp collecting. The little extras make all the difference.

I’m learning that I also view the flight path to the hospitals, so sometimes I see medical air evacuation helicopters go by, which is amazing. It’s hard to imagine what life was like before you could be airlifted for medical help. Whoa.

It’s also nice to see if I need an umbrella, or my sunglasses, before I get to the front door. Bonus!
