Now that I’ve started my new job, I’ve been trying to dress nicer and wear makeup every day. It means that I have to take more time to get ready in the morning, but so far I like feeling “made up” when I go to work.

But now I have a problem I haven’t had in a while. I’m trying to find gentle soaps to remove my makeup without irritating my skin. My friend recommended some african soap – it looks weird (it’s super dark brown/black) but it’s all natural and really gentle. I might give it a try, just to see if it works.

In the meantime – Noxema it is!

I end up at our local pharmacy at least once a week to do some last-minute, between grocery store trip type shopping. I usually know exactly what I need, I run in, I find it, I pay, and I’m back out the door in no time flat.

Only recently, they’ve decided to renovate the layout, and now I don’t know where anything is! The shampoo has been replaced by office supplies, the paper plates have been switched with incontinence products, and I still couldn’t tell you where the vitamins are, because I never found them.

My usual 5 minute trips are not taking 15 minutes as I wander the aisles. Plus, I’m remembering other items I need, so I’m putting those in my basket while I search for the one item I was looking for. So I’m spending more money!

Hey, wait a minute… those clever, clever shop-owners. Well played, pharmacy, well played.

One of the things I noticed when I was job-searching was how many jobs there are in the health field. It makes me think I should have gone to school for medical training, instead of the marketing/admin focus I chose. I keep seeing all of these listings for Medical Assistants and Dietetic Technician Jobs and it makes me think that someone in those fields would hav pretty good job security.

As it happens, Mr. Martini’s latest temp assignment ended, and he’s looking for work again. This is definitely something to think about!

Hello there! Sorry for the absence, I’ve had a couple of exciting months recently that have kept me away from the computer.

First, I went to my family reunion in Florida, which was a lot of fun. Lots of beach time, which is just what I needed.

Then, the week I got back, I started a new job! I know, right? It’s amazing how things work out, but I was incredibly lucky and so thrilled for the offer. There was lots of training, but it’s going really well, and I couldn’t be happier. Or feel luckier. See how happy I was?

I hope you all had a great summer, too. Now to look forward to fall!

My birthday is this Saturday, and I got to thinking about some of my past birthdays. I won’t say how many there’ve been (heh) but a few definitely stuck out in my memory. For instance, my 16th birthday. I don’t remember much about that day, but I do remember riding on the back of my boyfriend’s motorcycle, wearing one of his scorpion helmets (he wore his spare), and holding onto a backpack filled with takeout Chinese food that we were taking to my house for my birthday dinner. This was a huge treat, since we never had Chinese food at our house. I don’t remember exactly what we ordered, or what kind of cake we had, but I remember riding on the back of that motorcycle, and thinking, “Wow, I’m going to remember this birthday for a long time.”

And I have.
